Developing Insight and Wisdom

Did you know that the front left corner of your space (when you overlay a tic-tac-toe grid of 9 blocks over the entire area) relates to the energy of contemplation, self-cultivation and wisdom? It’s about being in touch with your deep inner, spiritual self. It is about introspection, knowing the right thing to do and being comfortable in your own skin. The area can be your land, your house, your office, your master bedroom, home office or any room in your house. It can also be your desktop, your car or wherever you are. How does this part of your home look and feel? What room is located here? How is it used and what shape is it in?

Work with the Knowledge gua of your home or office if you:

·         Would like to develop your spirituality
·         Desire more to connect with your deep, inner self
·         Would like to develop or strengthen a meditation practice
·         Want to become more heart-based or heart-centered
·         Are clearing out inner clutter or emotional turmoil

·         Are experiencing problems with your hands, back or shoulders
·         Have low back pain
·         Are having difficulty conceiving a child
·         Don’t know what to do or often feel scattered
·         Feel disconnected from your self, family or friends

·         Feel that you have no empty space
·         Do not know how to be yourself
·         Don’t know who you really are
·         Need more self care

Feng shui teaches us that you must know yourself in order to be successful in relating with others. If you know and love your Self, you are more likely to attract people who are likely to love you for who you are as well. Your energy on the inside is reflective of your energy on the outside. When you clear your clutter and create space for your Self, you create the opportunity to come into relationship with your Self. When you are in a healthy relationship with your Self, others are easily attracted to you as well.

This is an ideal area of your space for a study, library, sitting room or office. Family rooms and bedrooms are great here too. Gardens and meditation spaces provide wonderful support for this area outside. Bathrooms, laundry rooms,  closets and storage areas require attention. If this area is blocked or missing from your space altogether, adjust the knowledge corner of every room throughout your house, particularly the master bedroom.
The front left area of your space relates to the mountain trigram in the I Ching and Earth energy using the Five Elements. Enhance this area using blue (also some black and green), heavy, grounding furniture, square shapes, mountain pictures or images of churches, temples, holy sites or a symbol of stillness.

Work with the Knowledge area of your home or office and learn what it really means to Know Thyself! Knowing yourself and being comfortable in your own skin goes hand in hand with developing healthy relationships with others.

Set clear intentions and play with this area of your space. Cultivate a light attitude and go easy on yourself. Notice what comes up and release all discomfort within yourself and within your space. Your space mirrors your inner self. What is it saying about you?
