2009-2010 Feng Shui Fundamentals and Practitioner Certification Program
Our 2009-2010 program is set up so that new students can participate for one module, two modules or three modules - depending on your interest. We recognize that some students enjoy learning about feng shui, energy, intuition and related topics and are not interested in becoming practitioners. Current feng shui practitioners or students with some background knowledge can also participate on a daily basis.
Module I will provide a solid background of feng shui and enable everyone to assess living and work spaces. Modules II and III go into depth about intuition, energy, astrology, geopathic stress, earth energies, clearing practices and more. We have combined these topics into our unique program because we have found that they all impact the overall environment and the events that are occurring in one’s life. With any one topic you are working with a piece of the puzzle. When you incorporate all of the topics, you are working with a more complete and realistic picture.
We’ve set up the program so that you can learn the topics in phases. You’ll have time between programs to put your learning into practice. Periodic teleclasses will be scheduled to provide ongoing support as well as a forum to answers questions.

Module I: The Fundamentals of Feng Shui
2010-2011 CLASS STARTS: Monday, October 18 - Friday, October 22, 2010
Class Times: 9:00am - 4:30pm
Day 1 -October 18: History and Overview of Feng Shui and the Feng Shui Bagua
Students will learn about the origins of feng shui and how it has evolved through time. You will be introduced to the key feng shui principles rooted in the I Ching and begin the study of the feng shui bagua - the symbolic map of life issues. Chi and chi cultivation are a significant part of this day. Students will be introduced to personal chi cultivation methods and encouraged to develop a daily practice.
Day 2 - October 19: The Five Elements and Introduction to Dowsing
The Five Element theory is the basis of many holistic practices, including Chinese medicine. It provides the key to making feng shui adjustments as well as balancing one’s space and one’s life. Once you understand the relationships among the elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water … you will have the essential tools for applying cures to environments and making personal adjustments, for aligning your energies for your consultations and for understanding the Astrology of 9 Star Ki and 4 Pillars. We also introduce dowsing on this day so you can develop this intuitive skill and practice during the winter months. We use dowsing during Module II to detect earth energies.
Day 3 - October 20: External Form Feng Shui and Adjustments
Learning to read and assess the chi of land is fundamental to understanding the foundational, energetic support given to each dwelling from the earth and its form. You will never look at a plot or land the same as you discover which shapes and land forms are auspicious, providing vital energies to a structure and which can be draining to your life and aspirations. Good feng shui form, plot shapes, house shapes, roads, waterways, driveways and pathways and landscaping will be covered. Detrimental earth energies, commonly found under dwellings and often referred to as geopathic stress, will be introduced as well and their impact on health discussed. Adjustments and cures to balance external land forms and situations will be presented. Tools for Adjustments and the Method of Minor Additions will be covered, the start of your feng shui “tool kit.”
Day 4 - October 21: Internal Form Feng Shui and Adjustments
You will learn how to identify and begin to balance the interior architectural details of buildings using the12 Methods of Minor Additions that was introduced the prior afternoon. All the classical tools like bamboo flutes, crystals, 10 Emperor’s Coins and more will be presented along with how to use them for various cures. The differences between mundane and transcendental cures will be discussed and the 3 Secrets Reinforcement, which is used to set the intention for every cure, will be taught. The Red Envelope tradition will also be explained. This is a treasure chest of ancient knowledge that will be shared verbally and often cannot be found in any published books. This aspect of feng shui builds over many years of practice.
In keeping with the red envelope tradition for sharing this valuable knowledge on feng shui cures, all students will be asked to present 27 red envelopes to the teachers.
Day 5 - October 22: Onsite Consultation, Floor Plans and Putting It All Together
This exciting class invites you to put your new knowledge into practice. During the morning session we do a feng shui consultation in a private home. This is a wonderful opportunity to apply all you’ve learned in a comfortable learning environment. You will apply the bagua to the client’s plot plan and floor plan and determine the form and bagua issues. Based on the client’s intentions, you will identify the three most important areas to evaluate and determine what areas may require some balancing and adjustment. During the afternoon, you will learn how to prepare and read floor plans. You will also have a fun take-home exercise where you draw a room to scale and do a furniture lay out according to good feng shui principles. The sample room can be submitted for review at any time.
We will also discuss the flow of feng shui consultations, methods to protect and strengthen your energy and provide you with a consultation checklist that can be used to begin assessing the feng shui of land and buildings on your own.
After Module I, students will have a firm foundation of the principles and theory behind feng shui. Students will also have a basic understanding of the tools used to adjust one’s space and techniques for doing so.
At the end of this week participants receive a Certificate of Attendance for Module I studies. Students are prepared to do a feng shui assessment of their own home and deepen their understanding of the impact of one’s space on life.

Everyone is intuitive. This class teaches you how you can enhance and build your intuition into a finely honed tool to assist your receipt of answers that guide your work and life. Every aspect of life is influenced by energy. In your feng shui practice, you will be working with your clients to help them manifest their wishes and goals. To do so successfully requires you to fully understand the universal principles the Law of Attraction and how to implement them for yourself and others. During this class you will learn how to tune in to your intuitive gifts as well as how one’s subconscious thoughts manifest –how thoughts are things and how energy becomes matter in the physical environment. You will also learn how to shift your thoughts and feelings to reflect your true desires, using positive language and intent. As you tap into your intuition, you will be in a stronger position to shift your energy and release your limiting patterns and beliefs, develop beliefs that match your desires and assist others to do the same.
Day 2- March 23: Earth Energies, Earth Spirits and Identifying Geopathic Stress
Enjoy this journey into the mysteries of the energetic invisible worlds around us through the ancient art of dowsing. Dowsing is just one of many intuitive, divinatory skills that enhances your intuition and clarity. In feng shui, dowsing is a useful skill for many applications, but it is most often used to help locate invisible energies like chi paths or the geopathic stress lines under dwellings that may be impacting the health and well being of your clients or family. Continuing with basic dowsing practices learned during Module I, you will apply this skill to the location and identification of earth energies such as underground water, fault lines and fissures as well as grid lines like the Curryand Hartmann lines. Locating these lines, understanding their impact on healthand being able to offer solutions to remediate them are a part of the feng shui geomantic traditions.
Day 3 - March 24: The Magic and Mystery of Numbers: The Lo Shu Square, Tracing the 9 Stars, Best Directions, House Numbers, Introduction to 9 Star Ki Astrology
Another fun aspect of energy to understand is the dynamics behind the numbers and how they relate to the five elements. Although this is a deep, esoteric subject, we will cover the basics that are related to feng shui. Students will trace the Nine Stars around the Bagua map, learn the energy behind house numbers and determine the best directions to face one’s desk or favorite chair. Students will also learn about the elemental nature of people through the Japanese system of Nine Star Ki astrology. Knowing your nature and that of your clients can be a big help in forming good first impressions and understanding some of the patterns of personalities and relationships.
Day 4 - March 25: The Business of Feng Shui … getting started
If you intend to be a successful feng shui practitioner, you’ll find this class essential. You will learn professional guidelines for conducting successful feng shui consultations. Basic business practices, including how to set fees and how to write a business plan, will be covered. You will also learn how to align feng shui with your interests and talents to build your business, enhance your marketing and adapt to current economic conditions. This class is indispensable if you are just beginning or desire to grow your business.
Day 5 - March 26: Onsite Feng Shui Consultation
Today you have an opportunity to put your more advanced feng shui knowledge into practice in a friendly and safe environment. As a class we will prepare for a feng shui consultation and then meet onsite at a home or business. You will learn how to relate intentions to specific locations of the building or property and look for the most significant patterns to adjust or balance. We will profile the client’s Nine Star Ki astrology and identify Best Directions. We will also practice dowsing to locate geopathic stress and to make sure people are not sleeping or working over such areas for long periods of time. After meeting on site for the morning we will spend the afternoon reviewing the process and analyzing our observations and recommendations. This class will boost your confidence in your ability to pull everything together and apply relevant information to the situation at hand. It will help put you at ease about doing future feng shui consultations.
After this module, students will begin to understand one’s energetic interactions with their environment, identifying patterns that tend to repeat themselves in one’s life and some of the things we can do to create supportive living and working environments. Students will learn how to apply dowsing to identify and remediate paths of geopathic stress in homes. Students will also learn how to prepare Nine Star Ki astrology summaries and be introduced to the basics of setting up a feng shui business. An onsite group consultation ties together all we have learned in Module I and II.
At the end of this week participants receive a Certificate of Attendance for Module II studies. Students completing Module I and Module II and 4 case studies will also receive a “Fundamentals of Feng Shui Certification” upon completion and review of the cases.

More importantly, you learn about the impact of these fields on one’s health and steps you can take to optimize well-being. This is an essential topic for all feng shui practitioners and anyone designing exterior and interior spaces!
Day 2 - May 18: Four Pillar Astrology … Your 10 Year Luck Cycles
This amazing Chinese system of astrology is rooted in the Five Elements. Knowing one’s time, date and place of birth you will learn to identify what is needed to bring balance to one’s life during any given time. This class deepens your knowledge of the Five Element theory and helps you to apply it to people’s lives. Working from prepared charts, you will learn how to identify periods of good fortune, when everything seems to magically fall into place as well as times when some assistance is required to bring balance to areas such as work, wealth, health, relationships, resources and friends.
Day 3 - May 19: Personal Clearing and Space Clearing Practices
Feng Shui at its core is an energetic practice. Your body radar is turned on to tune into the energy frequencies of your client and their property. Often in the beginning, before your core energy is strong, you may take on the energies of your client and their homes. It is critical to be able to detect any energetic imbalances that may occur within you and then know how to clear them. In your feng shui practice, you may find many homes that could use an “energetic vacuum” to clear and lighten the space of lower vibrations and unwanted frequencies of illness, death, anger, violence, to mention a few. Tried and true space and personal clearing methods will be presented. This is an experiential class.
Day 4 - May 20: Onsite Consultation and Advanced Cure Methods
Today you will participate in a Space Clearing and an EMF screening and evaluation of a private home. This is an opportunity to put what you’ve learned this week into practice. Hands-on experience in our group setting is invaluable and fun. During the afternoon we will focus on advanced cure methods and ancient traditions. Once you put into place all the mundane cures and adjustments, you will want to master the transcendental cures and ceremonies that are the foundation and spirit of the Black Sect tradition of feng shui. Strengthening your alignment with Source and your own chi, having a sincere heart and focusing your intent are keys to successful transcendental cures. Learn the ancient traditions of using rice, liquor and cinnabar mixtures or transcendental cures and become familiar with modern day substitutes. Supreme Yoga I and II will also be taught – both valuable and powerful meditations for enhancing your personal chi. This will be a day of deepening your attunement with the spiritual nature of feng shui.
In keeping with the red envelope tradition for sharing this valuable knowledge on feng shui cures, all students will be asked to present 27 red envelopes to the teachers.
Day 5 - May 21: Creating Sacred Space, Altars and Blessing Ceremonies, Closing
What is sacred space – both in environments and within you? When does a space or a collection of objects move from the mundane into the mystical? How do you personally move from our three dimensional reality into your deeper spiritual and sacred attunement with Oneness? Through various methods, we will take our ordinary classroom and move it towards its spiritual capacity as a temple. In this class, you will learn how the interior blessing ceremony cleanses the energies of the room and raise its chi. Students will help setup an altar as we discuss the various purposes for altars, how to care for it and what objects can be used for enhancement. Transcendental cures for making an object sacred will be shared and demonstrated.
After this week, students will have techniques and experiences to help them more deeply understand the impact of energetic realms on our daily life and the spiritual nature of feng shui. Students will learn about the electric and magnetic environment and its impact on one’s health. Students will also be taught the basics of Four Pillar astrology, deepening their understanding of elemental natures. Simple but powerful techniques that can be used to clear space of negative imprints and predecessor energy as well as clearing and strengthening one’s personal energy fields will also be presented during this module. This week also weighs in on the spiritual gravity found in transcendental cures, meditation practices and the all important focus of alignment with Source - with the Oneness of all. As students deepen their own personal, sacred practices, their feng shui practice and their lives will likewise deepen and expand. Students will be asked to do a space clearing for their home after the completion of the week.
At the end of this week participants receive a Certificate of Attendance for Module III studies. Students completing Modules I - III will receive a Feng Shui Professional Practitioner Certification upon completion of case work.
