Requirements for the Professional Certification in Feng Shui Studies

The programs we offer are unique and draw on the extensive training and experience of our founders and teachers. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded program that teaches students the basics of feng shui rooted in all traditions, how to read and assess earth energies and how to develop intuitive skills. Feng shui and knowledge about our environments, the earth and one’s relationship to it, builds over years of layered experience. It is one thing to know the theory and an entirely different thing to put it all into practice. At “The Center” we teach students the fundamentals of this art in addition to providing the opportunity to learn at deeper levels. Students are encouraged and supported at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of training.

Drawing on the importance of understanding the visible and invisible worlds, our program includes training on the principles of energy, geopathic stress, the importance of intention and the Law of Attraction, identifying exposure to EMFs, personal and space clearing techniques and creating sacred space. This is a well-rounded program that offers a comprehensive approach to a very deep subject … the interaction of man with his environment.

For students who wish to develop a professional practice, we offer a certification program that exceeds the IFSG’s (International Feng Shui Guild’s) professional requirements.

We recognize that new practitioners require time to integrate their knowledge and build confidence in their skills. To support this important transition, we also offer ongoing mentoring and business development assistance.

Module I: Fundamentals of Feng Shui
Class Dates
: Monday – Friday, September 15 -19, 2008,
from 9:00 - 4:30 pm daily

Day 1
: History and Overview of Feng Shui and the Feng Shui Bagua
Students will learn about the origins of feng shui and how it has evolved through time. You will be introduced to the key feng shui principles rooted in the I Ching and begin the study of the feng shui bagua - the symbolic map of life issues.

Day 2: The Five Elements
The Five Element theory is the basis of many holistic practices, including Chinese medicine. It provides the key to making feng shui adjustments as well as balancing one’s space and one’s life. Once you understand the relationships among the elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water … you will have the essential tools for applying cures to environments and making personal adjustments, for aligning your energies for your consultations and for understanding the Astrology of 9 Star Ki and 4 Pillars.

Day 3: External Form Feng Shui and Adjustments
Learning to read and assess the chi of land is fundamental to understanding the foundational, energetic support given to each dwelling from the earth and its form. You will never look at a plot or land the same as you discover which shapes and land forms are auspicious, providing vital energies to a structure and which can be draining to your life and aspirations. Good feng shui form, plot shapes, house shapes, roads, waterways, driveways and pathways and landscaping will all be covered. Detrimental earth energies, commonly found under dwellings and often referred to as geopathic stress, will be introduced as well and their impact on health discussed.  Adjustments and cures to balance external land forms and situations will be presented.  Tools for Adjustments and The Method of Minor Additions, the start of your indispensible feng shui "tool kit" will be included.

Day 4Internal Form and Adjustments
You will learn how to identify and begin to balance the interior architectural details of buildings using the 12 Methods of Minor Additions that was introduced the previous day. All the classical tools like bamboo flutes, crystals, 10 Emperor’s Coins and more will be presented along with how to use them for various cures. The differences between mundane and transcendental cures will be discussed and the 3 Secrets Reinforcement, which is used to set the intention for every cure, will be taught. The Red Envelope Tradition will also be explained. This is a treasure chest of ancient knowledge that will be shared verbally and often cannot be found in any published books. This aspect of feng shui builds over many years of practice.

In keeping with the red envelope tradition for sharing this valuable knowledge on feng shui cures, all students will be asked to present 27 red envelopes to the teachers.

Day 5Preparing Floor Plans and Putting It All Together
This exciting class invites you to put all your new knowledge into practical application. This is where you do a feng shui assessment for your own space - applying the bagua to your plot plan and floor plan and determining the form and bagua issues. You will be asked to identify the three most important areas to evaluate and determine what may need some balancing and adjustment. There will also be a fun exercise with drawing a room to scale and laying out furniture within it according to good feng shui principles.

We will discuss the flow of feng shui consultations, methods to protect and strengthen your energy and provide you with a consultaiton checklist you can use to begin assessing the feng shui of land and buildings on your own.

After Module I, students will have a firm foundation of the principles and theory behind feng shui. Students will also have a basic understanding of the tools used to adjust one’s space and techniques for doing so. At the end of this week participants receive a Certificate of Attendance for Module I studies. Students will be ready to do a feng shui assessment of their own home and have an understanding of the impact of one’s space on life.

Module II: Heaven, Earth and Man
Class Dates
: Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 20, 2009

Day 1
: Energetic Principles and the Law of Attraction
Every aspect of life is influenced by energy. Like attracts like and you are always creating more of wherever your attention is placed. In your feng shui practice, you will be working with your clients on helping them attract into their lives their wishes and goals. To do so successfully requires you to fully understand the universal principles of the Law of Attraction and how to implement them for yourself and others. During this class you will learn how one’s subconscious thoughts manifest –how thoughts are things and how energy becomes matter in the physical environment. You will also learn how to shift your thoughts and feelings to reflect your true desires, using positive language and intent. As you are able to assess your thoughts and energies at deeper levels, you will be in a stronger position to shift yourself out of limiting patterns and beliefs as well assisting others to do the same.

Day 2: Building Intuition, Introduction to Dowsing, The Energy behind House Numbers
Everyone is intuitive; it is your birthright. However, you can enhance and build your intuitive into a finely honed tool to assist you in detecting and decoding energetic information that is around you. Dowsing is just one of many intuitive, divinatory skills that will enhance your intuition and clarity. In feng shui, dowsing is a useful skill for many applications, but it is most often used to help locate invisible energies like chi paths or the geopathic stress lines under dwellings that may be impacting the health and well being of your clients or family. Another fun aspect of energy to understand is the energy or numerology behind the numbers in your address. Although this is a deep, esoteric subject, we will cover the basics of determining the numerology of your home and what each number means.

Day 3: The Magic and Mystery of Numbers: The Lo Shu Square, Tracing the Nine Stars, Best Directions, Introduction to Nine Star Ki astrology
Learn how numbers are interconnected with the elements. Trace the Nine Stars around the Bagua map. Improve you working environment by moving your desk into your best personal direction. Improve working relationships by learning how to create a Nine Star Ki astrology chart for yourself and your clients or co-workers to better understand the dynamics.

Day 4: Earth Energies, Earth Spirits and Identifying Geopathic Stress
Explore the mysteries of the invisible worlds on earth! Enjoy this fascinating journey into Nature as we gain knowledge of the detrimental earth energies like underground water, fault lines and fissures as well as grid lines like the Curry and Hartmann lines. Locating these lines, understanding their impact on health and being able to offer solutions to remediate them are a part of the geomantic additions in feng shui. In addition, you will be introduced to some of the Nature Spirits – the Devas, the Fairies, the Gnomes, for instance - who are willing to work with you on issues of the land. Guidance will be given on calling on the Nature Spirits and how to co-create a more harmonious earth for us all.

Day 5: The Business of Feng Shui … getting started
If you intend to be a feng shui practitioner or you already are, you’ll find this class essential. You will learn professional guidelines for conducting successful feng shui consultations. Basic business practices, including how to set fees and how to write a business plan, will be taught. You will also learn how feng shui interfaces with other professions and fields in order to build your business and enhance your marketing. This class is indispensable if you are starting your business.
After this module, students will begin to understand one’s energetic interactions with their environment, identifying patterns that tend to repeat themselves in one’s life and some of the things we can do to create supportive living and working environments. Students will learn how to dowse, identify and remediate paths of geopathic stress in homes. Students will also learn how to prepare Nine Star Ki astrology summaries and be introduced to the basics of setting up a feng shui business. At the end of this week participants receive a Certificate of Attendance for Module II studies. Students completing Module I and Module II will also receive a “Fundamentals of Feng Shui” certificate at the close of this week. Module III: Immersion in the Energetic Realms
Class Dates
: Monday, May 18 – Friday, May 22, 2009

Day 1
: Electromagnetic Environment: recognizing and assessing ELF and EMR
There is more and more information linking anxiety, stress and much more to the proximity of common appliances, gadgets and tools in our living and working environments. Come and learn how to decipher electric fields from magnetic fields. You will also learn about high frequency fields associated with wireless systems, mobile phones and cell phones. More importantly, you learn about the impact of these fields on one’s health and steps you can take to optimize well-being. This is an essential topic for practitioners!

Day 2: Four Pillar Astrology … your 10 year luck cycles
This amazing Chinese system of astrology is rooted in the Five Elements. Knowing one’s time, date and place of birth you will learn to identify what is needed to bring balance to one’s life during any given time. This class deepens your knowledge of the Five Element theory and helps you to apply it to people’s lives. Working from prepared charts, you will learn how to identify periods of good fortune, when everything seems to magically fall into place as well as times when some assistance is required to bring balance to areas such as work, wealth, relationships, resources and friends.

Day 3: Space Clearing and Personal Clearing
Feng Shui at its core is an energetic practice. Your body radar is turned on to tune into the energy frequencies of your client and their property. Often in the beginning, before your core energy is strong, you may take on the energies of your client and their homes. It is critical to be able to detect any energetic imbalances that may occur within you and then know how to clear them. In your feng shui practice, you may find many homes that could use an “energetic vacuum” to clear and lighten the space of lower vibrations and unwanted frequencies of illness, death, anger, violence, to mention a few. Tried and true space and personal clearing methods will be presented. This will be a highly experiential class.

Day 4: Advanced Cures and Practicum
Once you put into place all the mundane cures and adjustments, you will want to master the transcendental cures and ceremonies that are the foundation and spirit of the Black Sect tradition of feng shui. Strengthening your alignment with Source and your own chi, having a sincere heart and focusing your intent are keys to successful transcendental cures. Learn how to prepare the rice, liquor and cinnabar mixtures used for many transcendental cures. Experience the exterior chi adjustment ceremony and sealing the doors. Supreme Yoga I and II will also be taught – both valuable and powerful meditations for enhancing your personal chi. This will be a day of deepening your attunement with the spiritual nature of feng shui.

In keeping with the red envelope tradition for sharing this valuable knowledge on feng shui cures, all students will be asked to present 27 red envelopes to the teacher.

Day 5: Creating Sacred Space, Altars and Blessing Ceremonies, Closing
What is sacred space – both in environments and within you? When does a space or a collection of objects move from the mundane into the mystical? How do you personally move from 4 square reality into your deeper spiritual and sacred attunement with Oneness? Through various methods, we will take our ordinary classroom and move it towards its spiritual capacity as a temple. In this class, we will perform the interior blessing ceremony as a way to cleanse the energies of the room and raise its chi. An altar will be set up with discussions on the various purposes for altars, maintaining its care and detailing the objects that enhance altars. Transcendental cures for making an object sacred will be shared.

In keeping with the red envelope tradition for sharing this valuable knowledge on the feng shui blessing ceremony and the cure for making an object sacred, all students will be asked to present 9 red envelopes to the teacher.

After this week, students will have techniques and experiences to help them understand more deeply the impact of energetic realms on our daily life. Students will learn about the electric and magnetic environment and its impact on one’s health. Students will also be taught the basics of Four Pillar astrology, deepening their understanding of elemental natures. Simple but powerful techniques that can be used to clear space of negative imprints and predecessor energy as well as clearing and strengthening one’s personal energy fields will also be presented in this week. Students will be asked to do a space clearing for their home after the completion of the week. At the end of this week participants receive a Certificate of Attendance for Module III studies.
