The Heart of the Home

The energetic center of your body is called the hara. It is a deep rooted space from which our life force or chi emanates. It is similar in our homes or offices. The center of our space is a vital area. It holds the pulse or heartbeat and touches all aspects of our lives. The center of our space is about unification, health, vitality and well-being. Whatever goes on in the center of your space permeates throughout your entire space. It is also reflected in your life.

When working with the feng shui bagua, the Center gua is the center of your space.  Overlay a tic-tac-toe grid of 9 blocks over your floor plan, your office or any room, your land, or wherever you are. The middle block is the Center gua.

Scan the center of your space. How does it look and feel? Is it spacious? Does chi or energy flow freely and easily? Is this space well maintained? Or is it cluttered with things you no longer use or need? Is anything broken or in disrepair? Does it feel tight or constricted? Sometimes the physical center of our home is a hallway or a small space that you just pass through.

Many years ago homes had center courtyards. They were the pulse of the home and also provided a connection to nature. Today, the center of some buildings falls outside such as with L-shaped spaces. If you are in this type of building, identify the energetic center.

How does the Center or heart of your home reflect what is unfolding in your life? If you want to create overall balance or improvement in your life, begin with the center. Cures and adjustments made in the Center permeate through out your entire space.

If your home needs a lot of work and you are not in the position to do it right now, a single, effective cure in the center can do wonders to begin to turn things around. One effective cure is to hang a 50 mm round faceted crystal. Crystals help to regulate energy. They can speed it up, slow it down and even it out.

Ideally the Center of your space should be free and airy, bright and uplifting. It should evoke a pleasant and healthy feeling. Removing clutter is one of the most effective steps you can take to uplift your home and revitalize your life. Work with the Center of your space in particular if you would like:

·         more unity in your life
·         to integrate separate parts of your life more effectively
·         to have more overall satisfaction

·         to feel more balanced, grounded and centered
·         to improve your health, particularly any spleen or stomach ailments
·         to strengthen your life force or improve your vitality

·         maintenance is needed, particularly plumbing or electric repairs
·         You have clutter
·         You feel stuck in life

The Center gua is energized by the Earth element: the color yellow, earthy items such as pottery, adobe, brick, seashells, square shapes and low flat rectangles and heavy furniture.

Place something that represents health and vitality in the Center of your space. It could be a beautiful picture, a vase of fresh flowers, a bowl of fruit, a vibrant plant or more. Bathrooms located in the Center need to be energetically balanced. They represent a draining energy that counteracts vitality.

Have fun as you work with the Center gua of your home. Set a positive intention and know that you can deliberately create a life you love!
